AI Generated Ornaments

I experimented with generated height maps that could be CNCed in foam to create clay moulds.

I started by 3D modelling a modular interlocking tile in Blender. I then rendered it from top as a height map. Then I drew a bit of noise on it, making sure not to interfere with the interlocking mechanism. These greyscale images where then fed into Stable Diffusion (AI image generation software) with a LORA trained on height maps. Carefully adjusting the primpts and setting I was able to generate heightmaps of various motifs. I chose an aquatic theme as it lends itself well to the chaotic forms that AI generates.

I also used these new heightmaps as Controlnet inputs to generate a coloured image that I would use as colour texture.
